Paul W. Deehan

Paul W. Deehan, 67, a 40 year resident of Sandwich and Harwich Port, died Monday, June 22, after a period of failing health.  Born in Brockton and raised in Abington, he was the son of the late William C. and Margery (Longden) Deehan and a graduate of Abington High School.  Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served overseas in Germany from 1968-1971.

Paul had been a familiar face, having worked locally for many years as a truck driver, first for the family business Deehans Express of Whitman and later for the Yellow Freight Company.

Paul was an avid football, loved his Patriots and had truly enjoyed the beach and saltwater fishing.

He is survived by his loving daughters Cary Fairbanks and her husband Eric and Meghan Barr and her husband Scott, all of Mashpee, his brother John T. Jack Deehan and his wife Nancy of Abington, his sister Gayle Franey and her husband Paul of Whitman and his beloved grandchildren Victoria and Zachary Fairbanks and Ethan, Jared and Nolan Barr.  He is also survived by his stepmother Shirley Deehan of Plymouth and his former wife Marjorie Sullivan of Sandwich, as well as many caring aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

His funeral service held Saturday, June 27, at 8:15 a.m. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary), Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 am. at the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman.  Burial in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman.  Visiting hours held on Friday, June 26, from 5 - 8 p.m.  Donations in his name may be made to the Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601 or to The Herron Project, Box 131, Portsmouth, RI 02871 or www.theherronproject.org.  For online condolences and directions please visit www.blanchardfc.com
